This weekly award is made to pupils in the Praise and Achievement Meeting on Friday afternoons. Pupils are nominated by staff where they have upheld the principles of the School’s ethos: namely Respect for, Acceptance of and Responsibility to Ourselves, Each Other and the Wider Community. It is not linked to academic success but rather the small things that children do, that often goes unnoticed and which should be recognised. At St Nicholas School, we award green badges which are exchanged each time a pupil collects three of them for another colour. At each ‘exchange’ pupils are rewarded with non school uniform days, trips off site and other special privileges. Where several pupils are nominated, a jury of their peers will decide which nomination is the strongest and who is the ultimate winner. This pupil has their photo taken along with the staff member who nominated them. The photo is then displayed in the corridor adjacent to the main reception area with an accompanying explanation detailing what the pupil did and why he was so deserving of the award. |
